How to increase the performance of the Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech 130hp with a chip tuning unit
Here is another example of engine downsizing, a small 3-cylinder 1200 with power that, a decade ago, was delivered by an 1800 cc naturally aspirated gasoline engine. It's the Peugeot model we are talking about, an automaker we don't often mention, although we have done a lot of electronic tuning. Specifically, today's topic is "How to increase the performance of the Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech 130hp with a chip tuning additional unit." Once again, this is the smart solution that does not face the problems of ECU remapping, namely that of voiding the warranty and having to rely on the preparer who did the remapping if you want to return everything back to stock conditions (which is sometimes not possible with Peugeot ECU remapping anyway).
How does the Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech 130hp drive as standard?
As we have often done, let us start by first addressing how the car in question drives in stock conditions, we have said that this 308 mounts a modern engine that is the result of the downsizing philosophy. This philosophy aims at reducing the displacement and the number of cylinders for the same power output. There are three in-line cylinders in this engine. Each cylinder has four valves, as there are now on all modern engines. It also has a gasoline injection system and a turbocharger that supercharges the engine. Its displacement is 1199cc, and the declared output is 130 horsepower at about 5500 rpm, while the maximum torque is 230Nm at 1750 rpm. While the 130 horsepower could also be obtained from a naturally aspirated 1200cc (assuming it is allowed to run very high), the torque figure makes it immediately clear that this is a supercharged engine since the specific torque (i.e., Nm per liter) is about double that of an atmospheric-powered 1200. That said, we know that this 308 reaches a top speed of about 200 km/h with the 0-100 acceleration taking just under 10 seconds. The mass is about 1150 kilograms, and the gearbox has 6 gears.
Tuning the Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech 3 cylinder 130hp with an additional chip tuning unit
The CHIPBOX kit was developed just for this. For this model, we are also ready to increase engine power and torque safely and even optimize gasoline consumption. The kit consists of the well-known digital chip tuning additional model properly programmed to intervene on the fuel injection and the turbo pressure management systems of this Peugeot engine. Installation is always simple and requires no mechanical or electronic modifications.
As mentioned, since it does remap the engine ECU, the stock ECU is not tampered with. Just hook up the set of genuine connectors in the wiring harnesses supplied with the chip tuning unit, and you're done. The instructions accompanied by photos make this operation easy and safe. The performance increase we have obtained on this Peugeot 308 is very appealing, simply consider the power increase of as much as 20 horsepower (remember that we are talking about a 3-cylinder 1199cc) and, more importantly, the substantial torque increase of as much as 45Nm.
As in so many other cases, one can imagine that the 308's mass is propelled far more effectively by the 150hp and 275Nm of maximum torque delivered by the small turbo gasoline! The engine revs up quickly and allows for excellent acceleration and recovery, even uphill, where the standard 3-cylinder lacks a tiny bit of maximum torque, which is especially noticeable when under full load. With careful driving, one can also improve the already good mileage per liter of gasoline.
Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech 3 cylinder 130hp accelerator pedal chip tuner
Also available for this 308 is our second PEDALBOOSTER kit to eliminate engine response lag. The kit installs and disassembles without a trace and can be set to 4 different driving modes (City, Sport, Race, Plus), making it adaptable to all conditions. This kit is at its best when installed alongside CHIPBOX, which provides a surplus of power and torque on Peugeot's 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. Again we are talking about a Plug&Play kit that does not require any irreversible modifications, and everything can be easily restored to stock conditions.
How can you control the power of the Peugeot 308 1.2 Puretech from your smartphone?
If you are a regular reader of ours, you will already know, but if you are new, no problem, we'll explain immediately! We at SELETRON have developed a dedicated technology that works with an APP (free of charge) to allow you to connect to our additional controllers with your smartphone! Yes, you got it right. If you order the CONNECT versions of CHIPBOX and PEDALBOOSTER, you can control the power and delivery of your Peugeot's engine through the screen of your smartphone, something not achievable with electronic remapping. At any time, you can decide if your engine should deliver the original 130hp or if it should deliver the increased power of 150hp. You can do the same with the engine torque and the kind of response you want from the throttle pedal controls! Remarkable, isn't it?
Remember that with our kits, you don't void the manufacturer's warranty, and you can restore everything to stock condition whenever you want, get excellent power and torque gains safely, and you can even optimize your gas mileage! All kits are made in Italy with the best components and the very best technologies for electronic tuning, and all kits come with an official SELETRON warranty and TUV Austria Certification.
